You are warmly invited to come and join with the Archbishop of York and others from across the deanery to explore the Lord’s Prayer. Archbishop Stephen will be speaking and sharing the importance and relevance of the Lord’s Prayer to our world today, encouraging us to pray and live by this as part of our missionary discipleship. There will also be the opportunity to hear more about specific resources for schools linked to the Lord’s Prayer which will be launched in 2025.
The evening will begin with a welcome from the new Bishop of Selby, the Reverend Canon Doctor Flora Winfield, who will also share her personal thoughts on one line from the Lord’s Prayer which she finds most challenging. We will then hear from a couple of local people about what the Lord’s Prayer means to them.
Following this, Archbishop Stephen will share his thoughts on the Lord’s Prayer followed by a time for questions from those present.
Like all good evenings, it will finish with tea and coffee and a chance to chat.
In order to cater appropriately it is helpful if you can confirm your attendance by registering via Eventbrite (search Selby Abbey and a list of all future events will appear – click on the link for this event) – don’t worry if you can’t just come along!
Bring a friend, bring yourself! We look forward to welcoming you.
